Band Together: The American Refugee Committee's Annual Gala

During the year of our 30th anniversary, the American Refugee Committee invites you to join us for our annual gathering at The Dakota. You won’t want to miss this exquisite evening of rhythmic world music and extraordinary food. This event celebrates the work our community
makes possible: helping 2.5 million refugees each year take back control of their lives.

Where: The Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant, 1010 Nicollet Mall, downtown Minneapolis, 612.332.1010, http://www.dakotacooks.com/

When: Thursday, October 22, 2009

6:00 P.M. - Cocktail Hour and Tukul Fete

Tukuls are traditional, round huts found in some parts of Africa. Our “tukuls” are small baskets, hand-woven by Congolese refugees. You may find a valuable surprise inside!

7:00 P.M. & Beyond - Dinner, Live Auction & Performance

Share in sizzling musical performances by stars from Minnesota and around the world as you enjoy delicately prepared, modern cuisine by one of the best chefs in the Twin Cities. Our live auction features once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and items unique to the American Refugee Committee’s global programs.

The Dakota: The Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant is perennially lauded as one of the best jazz clubs in America, adored by musicians and patrons alike. But the Dakota’s notoriety extends beyond the stage. The kitchen, headed by Chef Jack Riebel, tops the lists of Twin Cities food critics.
