Leaving a Legacy for Refugees and Displaced People

Thank you for supporting displaced people around the world. A Planned Gift to ARC is another great way to do just that. With a Planned Gift, you can support refugees around the world while also planning your financial future.

Here are some examples of Planned Gifts that ARC receives. Which type of gift sounds right for you?

Make a Legacy Gift

There are a number of ways you can leave your legacy with ARC:

  • You can leave a gift to ARC in your personal will or trust. It's actually pretty easy. Here is some sample legal language you could add to your will or trust.

["I give and bequeath the sum of [XXX] dollars ($XXX) to the American Refugee Committee ...:"] or ["I give, devise and bequeath [description of asset(personal property, etc.)] to the American Refugee Committee]

Making a Legacy Gift to ARC is as easy as adding some short language to your will or trust.
  • Maybe even simpler, you can make ARC a beneficiary of an IRA account or an insurance policy. Just add "American Refugee Committee" as a beneficiary of your account.

Create a Charitable Remainder Trust

When a donor puts property into a Charitable Remainder Trust, the donor continues to receive income from the property during the life of the trust. ARC then receives what property remains at the end of the trust. Contact your financial planner to discuss creating a Charitable Remainder Trust benefitting ARC.

Create a Charitable Lead Trust

When a donor puts property into a Charitable Lead Trust, ARC will receive income from the property during the life of the trust. When the trust ends, a non-charitable beneficiary then receives full ownership of what remains in the trust. Contact your financial planner to discuss creating a Charitable Lead Trust benefitting ARC.
