Becoming an ARC Consultant

Every year, ARC seeks consultants for various assignments. ARC maintains a specialized database for this purpose that contains information about private-sector consultants interested in consulting work, generally on a short-term basis. This database contains only consultants who specialize in humanitarian assistance.

To apply, you must have at least three (3) years of experience in international humanitarian assistance in a developing country. Your degrees / diplomas and experience must support your ability to help manage (plan, monitor, evaluate) international humanitarian assistance projects.

Minimum Acceptable Daily Rate
A minimum daily rate is the rate you are prepared to accept from ARC as a daily fee for professional services. Daily rates for professional services should normally correspond to the daily rates you have previously charged ARC or other clients for similar or related work.

A daily rate will be confirmed / negotiated when a contract is prepared. ARC follows this procedure to consider the history of a consultant's daily rate and /or experience in ARC's work environment. You may be asked to provide supporting documentation that will corroborate the daily rate proposed.

Sample Services
ARC hires consultants to support the development and implementation of its projects, programs, and management systems. ARC requires consultant support under the following headings:

Grant Writers:

• Prepare planning documents, such as the concept paper, project approval document and annexes, and management plan, including the logic framework and activity structure.
• In cooperation with the project team, prepare the request for proposal (RFP) documents. Help to evaluate RFPs. Help to prepare the negotiation strategy and to negotiate contracts.

Professional Managers (Interim):

• Act as a technical expert for professional specialists and project managers in ARC's various priority areas of intervention.
• Act as interim Country Directors, Finance Controllers, or HR Managers.

If accepted onto the Consultant Database, consultants will be contacted on an as needed basis if their skill set matches, however, acceptance to the Consultant Database is not a guarantee of work.
