Typhoon Relief in the Philippines

4.1 Million People Displaced

On Friday, November 8, Typhoon Haiyan slammed into the Philippines with heavy winds and flooding rains. It damaged or destroyed millions of buildings, leaving 4.1 million displaced from their homes.
You can make a donation now to support people in Philippines and help families begin the process of rebuilding.

kidswithkitBoys carry one of the emergency shelter kits distributed by ARC days after the typhoon.
ARC has had a team on the ground responding since shortly after Typhoon Haiyan. (Here are some photos from the team.)
The team has helped several thousand survivors by:
  • Distributing emergency food packages, shelter kits, hygiene kits, mosquito nets and fuel
  • Providing essential medicines and supplies
  • Starting recovery activities, early - clearing trade routes, removing downed trees and other debris and building a temporary bridge
  • Distributing shelter materials for rebuilding - nails, roofing materials, saws, hammers and protective wear (wheelbarrows and shovels for debris removal)
  • Distributing root vegetable seeds to help families return to their livelihoods
The team has been engaging with local partners to respond to urgent needs. We worked with Disaster Immediate Response Team to recover deceased victims in a dignified manner that protects the health of surviving residents.
As families begin the process of rebuilding, we want to help them build back better. That includes promoting the use of superior building materials and techniques, so that homes will stand up better to future typhoons.
Our hearts go out to people who've lost loved ones and their homes and belongings in this terrible storm. We'll continue to be there for families in any way we can.

This work cannot be possible without the generous support of donors. Will you consider a donation?
